Scope of the journal
Who can write for us?
Which topics can I write for?
Which type of papers can I submit?
Submission Guideline
Submitting manuscripts in the correct format will expedite the review process and prevent undue delay in publication. The editors reserve the right to reject incomplete submissions and those that do not comply with the specified submission guidelines.
Before submitting your paper to JEMSA, two factors should be kept in mind. The first is the need to ensure that you have a clear, logical message. The second is to present your paper in the correct format for the journal. So make sure you read the manuscript organization and any other relevant information.
All the authors have to sign the letter of submission (the cover letter). The cover letter should contain:
1-Your name, affiliation and email address;
2-Alternative contact details if you will be away for a certain amount of time;
3-Your paper topic: select only one of the following;
4-A brief statement, in a sentence or two, why you think the paper is important and why the journal should publish it.
5-Any other details you think are relevant.
When your paper has been submitted, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your submission and a reference number from the Editor-in-Chief. Use this reference number in any subsequent status enquiries.
JEMSA student editorial team peer reviews all the material it receives. The usual reasons for rejection at this stage are insufficient originality or the absence of a message that is important to a general medical audience. If your paper is still in the running after peer review, it will be reviewed by a senior member of our international editorial board, which consists of professionals from an array of medical fields. Editor-in-Chief will make the final decision.
During the review process, we may ask you to revise your paper in the light of reviewer comments.
JEMSA Award
JEMSA student editorial team will discuss accepted articles and select the best article which will be featured on the cover of the next issue of the journal. The selection will be based on the reviewer comments.
